Disabled Blue Badge Parking Scheme
The Government have made changes to the blue badge scheme to reduce fraud and misuse of the parking badges. From 1st January 2012 a more secure blue badge will be issued. In addition a central database will be created with information about all blue badges to ensure that they are not misused. Click here for an easy read guide about the blue badge reform.
The Blue Badge Scheme (The Disabled Persons Parking Badge Scheme) is designed to allow disabled people to park in spaces close to where they need to visit and without cost. If you are receiving Disability Living Allowance higher rate mobility component you should automatically qualify for a Blue Badge. An application form and explanatory leaflet about the scheme is available from Wokingham Borough Council.
