Behaviour and Emotional Support Team (BEST): The team that supports children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Home and Hospital provides tuition for children who are unable to attend school either because of permanent exclusion or health related issues.

Carers Allowance: (formerly called Invalid Care Allowance) is a taxable benefit paid to people aged 16 or over who are caring for someone who is receiving or waiting to hear about Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance (at the middle or higher rate for personal care). NT: Neuro-typical - a term used for people without autism.
Note in lieu: Sometimes LEAs send parents a note in lieu of a statement after an assessment when they decide not to issue a statement.
