'A for Film' and the Vue Group believe that it is important and appropriate to treat adults with additional needs in the same way as the regular cinema going public, with choices and opportunities allowing them to integrate, whilst protecting their potential vulnerabilities and requirements.
'The Big Film Club will occur every Thursday around midday (the film start times will vary), enabling adults with additional needs to regularly enjoy the cinema as part of their weekly routine.
Initially the ticket prices are £5.75 each, however we will investigate to see whether we can attain any group discounts, dependent upon numbers. Tickets can be booked online via the Vue website. This will enable all of our Members to pre-book and choose where to sit for an additional 60p a ticket, guaranteeing their favourite seat each week.
To ensure that we continue with the integration ethos, (protecting our Members, whilst not segregating them), we are proposing a new theme. We intend that the chosen feature each week is named as an 'Additional Needs Preference Screening'.
It will be open to the General Public, but our Additional Needs Members have Priority. Any member of the General Public, who tries to buy a ticket for an 'Additional Needs Preference Screening', will be made aware that our Members have a variety of challenging conditions and may express their emotions and enjoyment of the film in a variety of often loud ways, which is PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE. The Lights will be up a little and the sound slightly down. If the Public are happy with this, they can join our screening, if not they can choose another standard screening.
The Film Start time, will be early afternoon, probably around midday...., this will give 'The Big Film Club' the opportunity to do as the General Public during midday screenings, buying Nanchos, Hotdogs and Popcorn for their lunch, whilst enjoying the movie.
Update - After the input of several Adults with Additional Needs 'A for Film' and the Vue Cinema Group have responded and will be making the following immediate changes. 'The Big Film Club' will show PG's, 12's, 15's & 18's on weeks 2,4,6 and other even weeks, with appropriate cautions and warnings for Carers, Parents and Adults with Additional Needs can then decide whether to attend the Film.
If you have a wheelchair ...., please arrive 30 minutes before the film starts, as you will need to use the lift.
Wheelchairs and profoundly physically disabled Adults will be ushered into the Cinema first, enabling them to get their tickets, buy their refreshments and be settled by their Carers in the Screening Room.
The Cinema will open it's refreshment kiosks to buy Pop-corn, Drinks and other Cinema Goodies ....., however if an Adult has allergies, or follows a strict Wheat & Dairy Free diet, you may bring your own snacks, as these are not provided by the Vue group at present.
Please remember 'Safety First'.
