Housing Benefit is a national welfare benefit administered by local authorities. Help is available to people on low income, who pay rent for where they live. Housing Benefit is an income related benefit, which means it is calculated by taking into account your income, capital and household circumstances. Since 7th April 2008 this has been replaced by Local Housing Allowance for people who live in privately rented accommodation.
Directgov - If you're on a low income and need financial help to pay all or part of your rent, you may be able to get Housing Benefit.

LHA Direct - The LHA-Direct website has been developed to enable tenants renting accommodation from a private landlord to calculate the possible amount of Housing Benefit available to them from their Local Authority.
